A wet spot on the ceiling below your bathroom is the final warning of a structural failure that started months or years ago. Water migration through a shower floor occurs because of hydrostatic pressure, capillary action in porous grout, or subfloor deflection that snaps the waterproofing bond. Most homeowners blame the plumber first, but as […]
Why Your Shower Pan Liner Is Failing and the Pre-Slope Fix Most guys skip the leveling compound. They think the underlayment will hide the dip. It won’t. I spent three days grinding concrete on a job last month just so the floor wouldn’t click like a castanet. That same laziness is why I am standing […]
I spent three days grinding concrete on a job last month just so the floor wouldn’t click like a castanet. Most guys skip the leveling compound. They think the underlayment will hide the dip. I spent three days grinding concrete on a job last month just so the floor wouldn’t click like a castanet. I saw the same lack of care in the shower stall next door. Most installers finish the tile and […]
The secret to a floor that lasts decades is not found in the tile itself. It is found in the chemistry of the grout and the structural integrity of the slab beneath. Most guys skip the leveling compound. They think the underlayment will hide the dip. It won’t. I spent three days grinding concrete on […]
The moldy reality behind the seal I spent three days digging out black mold behind a seal that the homeowner swore was waterproof. They thought a fresh bead of silicone would stop the leak. It did not work. The moisture was already deep in the cement board and the old silicone was peeling back like […]
